According to a survey on 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, China's cotton planting area in 2014 shrunk by 2.9% to near 4.22 hectares, showed a contraction of 126,500 hectares compared to 2013, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Dec. 18.
